This past summer, more than 200 Samaritan’s Purse volunteers from 26 states started construction on a church building on remote Nunivak Island off the coast of Alaska. The construction site lies at the edge of a Native Village, the only year-round settlement on the tundra-covered Alaskan isle.
The well-insulated church will feature a sanctuary, fellowship hall, kitchen, pastor’s office, three dedicated classrooms, ramp entry, and more. The building’s foundation is built to withstand the yearly freeze and thaw and should last 100 years.
Part of the challenge of constructing a building on a remote island is getting all the building supplies needed to the site. Last week, Franklin Graham, Samaritan’s Purse Founder, revealed a pleasant surprise in that process.
Graham wrote on Facebook, “Our Alaska church building crew ordered the high-quality construction screws they needed from a company called Jake Sales located in Kalispell, Montana. They are quality in more ways than one! “
Graham included a picture of the screws and the boxes they came in. He continued, “Look closely—they have John 3:16 printed on their packaging, and on their website! I appreciate this company spreading the best news the world has ever heard! Thank you, Jake Sales!”
Jake Sales is an online fulfillment business that started in 2009. They sell an assortment of building materials.
