Under a sign that reads, “A love offering from the Baptist Church in Gaza”, the Christian Mission to Gaza serves hot meals to both Christians and Muslims in the Gaza Strip, where people are starving to death.

CMG served about 2,000 hot meals last weekend in the name of the Gaza Baptist Church.

Hanna Massad is the church’s first Palestinian pastor.

He continues to hold online prayer services each Sunday with about 30 online connections, including members of Gaza Baptist Church and others.

Despite the thousands of meals served, they only reach a small fraction of those in need.

At least 63 people died of starvation in the Gaza Strip this month, that’s according to the World Health Organization. The number includes 25 children and 38 adults, with 24 of the children under the age of 5.

Malnutrition is spiraling out of control in Gaza, according to the WHO, with more than 5,000 children under five seeking outpatient treatment for malnutrition in the first two weeks of July alone. About 20 percent were suffering Severe Acute Malnutrition, the most life-threatening form. In June, 6,500 children were admitted for treatment, the highest number recorded since October 2023.

Israel disputes those numbers.
