The host of “Raising Godly Girls,” Founder and Executive Director of American Heritage Girls Patti Garibay, encouraged parents to combat the consumerism of the holiday season and contemplate the gift of Christ with their girls.
She said, “Is your daughter getting caught up in the commercial side of Christmas? It’s easy to get wrapped up in the balsam-scented sparkle of it all! But we know there is so much more to the season than the glitter and presents — Christmas is about the Savior. “
Garibay’s suggestion, “This holiday season, read 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 with your family. Ask how can your family share your blessings with others. Come up with tangible ways to keep Jesus at the center of your holiday and create a Christmas bucket list!”
She added, “We’ve heard it said in so many different ways: ‘Jesus is the reason for the season’ and ‘Keep Christ in Christmas.’ These clever little sayings are great reminders. But for some, it can be difficult to get out of the rut of a self-centered holiday.”

American Heritage Girls was founded in 1995 by a group of parents who wanted a faith-based, scout-type character development program for their daughters.
Today, there are Troops in all 50 states and girls being served in 15 countries around the globe. Girls can join a Troop at any time.
If a Troop is not available nearby, they can become a Trailblazer and enjoy the AHG program alongside their parent.
